Locum has been entrusted with the management of the Stockholm County Council’s healthcare premises on the basis of longterm sustainability. This means that Locum integrates ethical, social and environmental considerations into its management. The aim is to contribute to sustainable social development.
Owner requirements for LocumThe County Council has an environmental policy programme, Environmental Step 5, which aims to reduce the negative environmental impact of the various enterprises. This is in line with the national environmental quality goals determined by the Swedish Parliament. Specific environmental standards are set, for example, in the programme for the management of the County Council’s properties, relating to matters such as energy consumption, transport, and choices of chemicals and products.
Locum has been instructed through specific owner directives to help the tenants utilise the premises in a cost-effective manner and to prioritise buildings that conserve resources and are adapted for sustainability.
Locum´s sustainability workFor Locum, sustainable development means that the operations shall be managed in a way that the current needs are satisfied without preventing future needs from being met. Locum has engaged in ambitious efforts from an environmental perspective for many years.

Corporate social responsibility is regarded as part of the sustainability concept.
UpSustainability report according to the GRI
The UN-supported Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has developed into a globally accepted standard for sustainability reports for organisations and enterprises. Locum’s sustainability report (only available in Swedish) satisfies the requirements of reporting level C in the GRI guidelines. There has been no third-party verification of this sustainability report. It covers the operations that Locum has a direct influence over, and which have a considerable impact on the basis of a sustainability perspective. Operations that lie outside Locum’s direct control, such as subcontractors, are not covered by the reporting. The reporting period is for the year 2011. Locum intends to report on its sustainability work annually according to the GRI guidelines.
No deviations from Locum’s policies and core values have been reported during the year. Management by objectives and values characterises the management of the operations in order to achieve long-term sustainable development of the property portfolio. It is based on the ten principles of the Global Compact.
